PMSM Iron Losses
This example shows a test harness for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) that validates that the iron losses are as expected. The open-circuit test validates the main flux path losses which are defined to be 500W due to hysteresis and 1500W due to eddy current losses. The short-circuit test validates the cross-tooth flux path losses which are defined to be 200W due to hysteresis and 600W due to eddy current losses.
Simulation Results from Simscape Logging
The plot below validates that the iron loss parameters entered into the FEM-Parameterized PMSM block provided the expected behavior in simulation. The sum of the parameter values relevant for the respective test match the transient simulation results.
Results from Real-Time Simulation
This example has been tested on a Speedgoat Performance real-time target machine with an Intel® 3.5 GHz i7 multi-core CPU. This model can run in real time with a step size of 1 millisecond.
