Interface (AB-Rotational)

Connect angle-based and non-angle-based mechanical rotational ports

Since R2026a

  • Interface (AB-Rotational) block

Libraries:
Simscape / Foundation Library / Rotational / Utilities

Description

The Interface (AB-Rotational) block represents a rigid connection between an angle-based and a non-angle-based mechanical rotational network. Port angular velocities are equal. Torques at the interface are equal and opposite.

The Angle-based port parameter value determines the block orientation. Align the block positive direction with the positive direction of the connected angle-based network.

The block logs the variable t:

  • If Angle-based port is Bab, t represents the torque of the angle-based rotational network at port Bab acting on the non-angle-based rotational network at port F.

  • If Angle-based port is Fab, t represents the torque of the non-angle-based rotational network at port B acting on the angle-based rotational network at port Fab.

For more information, see Data Logging.

Ports

Conserving

Angle-based rotational conserving port that represents a passage point through the interface. Connect this port to an angle-based rotational port of another block.

Dependencies

To enable this port, set the Angle-based port parameter to Bab.

Angle-based rotational conserving port that represents a passage point through the interface. Connect this port to an angle-based rotational port of another block.

Dependencies

To enable this port, set the Angle-based port parameter to Fab.

Mechanical rotational conserving port that represents a passage point through the interface. Connect this port to a regular, non-angle-based, mechanical rotational port of another block.

Dependencies

To enable this port, set the Angle-based port parameter to Bab.

Mechanical rotational conserving port that represents a passage point through the interface. Connect this port to a regular, non-angle-based, mechanical rotational port of another block.

Dependencies

To enable this port, set the Angle-based port parameter to Fab.

Parameters

Specify the block orientation:

  • Bab — Exposes the angle-based port Bab, located on the left side of the block icon in the default orientation, and the mechanical rotational port F on the right side. The block positive direction is from port Bab to port F.

  • Fab — Exposes the angle-based port Fab, located on the right side of the block icon in the default orientation, and the mechanical rotational port B on the left side. The block positive direction is from port B to port Fab.
