Communication interface

R2026b

Exchange data between host computer and target hardware

Model Configuration Pane: Hardware Implementation / Hardware board settings / Target hardware resources / Groups / External mode

Description

Use the Communication interface parameter to select the transport layer external mode uses to exchange data between the host computer and Raspberry Pi®.

Settings

XCP on TCP/IP (default) | XCP on CAN | TCP/IP

Default: XCP on TCP/IP

XCP on TCP/IP (default)

Use XCP (Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol) over TCP/IP as the transport layer for external mode communication. The host computer and Raspberry Pi communicate over an Ethernet or Wi-Fi® network connection.

XCP on CAN

Use XCP (Universal Measurement and Calibration Protocol) over CAN as the transport layer for external mode communication. The host computer communicates with Raspberry Pi through a CAN bus connection. This option requires a Vehicle Network Toolbox™ license and a supported CAN hardware interface on the host computer.

This option also enables A2L file generation when the Host interface is set to Third party calibration tools, allowing use of third-party calibration tools such as CANape® or INCA.

TCP/IP

Use TCP/IP as the transport layer for external mode communication without the XCP protocol layer.
