Kohler Builds Reliability Test System Using Data Acquisition Toolbox and Instrument Control Toolbox

This presentation covers the development of an automated test system using Data Acquisition Toolbox™, Instrument Control Toolbox™, and effective GUI programming practices. The system was developed to perform reliability testing of generators. This was the first test system developed using MATLAB® and Simulink® products; all other previous systems in-house were developed using LabVIEW. The bulk of the hardware utilized in this project was from National Instruments, and there was one power meter using MODBUS protocol. The presentation covers the lessons learned from the development process. The test system has been deployed using MATLAB Compiler™ and will be used on numerous test stands.
