Rapidly Verify Functional Design Using MBSE and System Composer
Sunyuan Chen, Bosch (China) Investment Co.
Modern automotive R&D faces challenges in functional development, including prolonged timelines, increasing design complexity, and inconsistent requirement granularity across different levels. These issues often result in misalignment between upstream and downstream requirements, difficulties in maintaining documentation consistency, extended problem identification/analysis chains, and high communication costs among engineers at various levels.
To address the pain point of achieving “error-free replication” in functional requirement transmission during development, Bosch Engineering Group (BEG) established a simulation environment grounded in Feature-Based Development principles. This solution integrates model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methodologies with Simulink® products, including System Composer™ and Stateflow®. Through practical project applications, this environment has demonstrated its capability to validate functional logic in advance for complex, cross-domain features, enabling early detection and mitigation of design issues. It effectively guides software implementation while significantly shortening iteration cycles, reducing workload, and markedly improving delivery quality.
