Symbolic computing is critical for solving complex technical problems since it allows engineers and scientists to find general solutions to their problems that can quickly be evaluated for a wide range of conditions. Having a solution displayed symbolically not only ensures that your solution is exact, but it also gives you insight into the underlying mathematical structure of your problem. Symbolic math can be applied to a wide range of applications, including:
• Developing mathematical models of mechanical or electrical systems (e.g. hydraulic pump, electrical circuit, crankshaft)
• Applying econometric models to predict inflation and unemployment levels
• Modeling biological systems and solving differential equations to study the effectiveness of potential drug compounds
Symbolic computing is also used extensively by educators and students throughout engineering, science, and mathematics departments.
This webinar shows how the new capabilities in Symbolic Math Toolbox make it easy to perform symbolic computations from MATLAB. It will show how you can leverage the extensive functionality available in the toolbox and conveniently manage and document your symbolic computations. You will also see how you can extend the built in functionality available in the toolbox by developing your own custom symbolic functions and libraries.
