Description

Adams Controls is part of Adams, a multibody dynamics simulation solution, which allows engineers to visualise the motion of complex mechanical assemblies, predict their performance, and optimise their designs. Adams Controls specifically concentrates on integrating control systems with mechanical models, allowing users to simulate real-world interactions between mechanical components and control algorithms. By including control systems in the simulation environment, engineers can gain a more comprehensive understanding of how mechanical systems will behave under various conditions.

The solution provides a robust platform for developing, testing, and validating control strategies in conjunction with mechanical simulations. It offers a range of features, including co-simulation capabilities, which allow for the simultaneous simulation of mechanical and control systems. This is particularly beneficial in the design of smart systems such as robotics, automotive suspensions, ADAS features, and aerospace mechanisms, where the interaction between the control system and the mechanical structure is critical. Adams Controls supports a variety of control system modelling techniques.

The integration between Adams Controls and MATLAB® and Simulink® is facilitated through S-functions and MEX files. S-functions allow users to implement custom algorithms in MATLAB and Simulink, which can then be linked to Adams models for co-simulation. MEX files enable the execution of MATLAB code within the Adams environment, providing a seamless interface for data exchange and algorithm implementation. The connectivity between Adams Controls and MATLAB and Simulink is embedded as a standard feature, ensuring that users have immediate access to these capabilities without the need for additional add-ons. This integration empowers engineers to leverage the strengths of both platforms, enhancing their ability to design, simulate, and optimise complex systems.
