Water retention curve - Van-Genuchten Model

Water retention gives how much a soil can hold water. Hence using retention curve, suitable crops can be grown or assess soil strength.

1) Water retention curve or the soil moisture characteristics provides the relation between the water content and
water potential.
2) It is used to measure the soil water storage, in short for soil management like which type of plants to grow in
which type of soil based on plants appetite for water.
3) Different models can be used to study the soil water retention curve in a specific field. Here we use the
famous VG (Van Genuchten) model.
4) We can also assess soil strength of soil using water retention curve in the event of Tsunami or floods. Weak soil
and strong soil definitely has different VG curves.
