Is MATLAB supported on Mac OS 10.2.x (Jaguar)?

MATLAB installs and runs fine on Mac OS 10.1 (Puma). However, when I launch MATLAB on Mac 10.2.x (Jaguar), after installing it, or adding a Toolbox, it fails with the following error:
dyld: /Library/MATLAB/bin/mac/matlab Undefined symbols:
_tgetent

MATLAB is supported for use on Jaguar, OS X 10.2 only for MATLAB Relase 13. This includes the service packs for MATLAB R13 as well. For MATLAB 6.5, you may need to apply a patch for MATLAB in order to run on Jaguar. For MATLAB versions 6.5.1 through 6.5.2, this patch is already applied.
NOTE: Installing this patch over MATLAB 6.5.1 or 6.5.2 may result in an unusable installation.
This document describes how to use the MATLAB Mac OS X 10.2 patch, which allows MATLAB 6.5 (R13) to run under Mac OS X 10.2.x. This patch also fixes several bugs in MATLAB R13. For this reason, you may want to install it on systems running Mac OS X 10.1.x as well.
The bugs and enhancements fixed by this patch are:
1. License Manager errors for individual licenses that were caused by file ownership or dynamic hostname issues have been improved.
2. The problem caused by typing any characters along with the Option Key has been fixed.
3. The problem of the Simulink Simulation Diagnostics window not being brought to the foreground when a block error was detected has been fixed.
4. a License Manager error occurs, an error message window will now display.
You should download this patch if you match one of the following scenarios:
I. You want to install MATLAB 6.5 (R13) on a Mac OS X 10.2.x system that does not currently have MATLAB installed.
II. You want to update an installation of MATLAB that was installed on a system with Mac OS X 10.1.x, but has subsequently been updated to Mac OS X 10.2.x, or, you want to update an installation of MATLAB recently installed on Mac OS X 10.2..x.
III. You want to update an installation of MATLAB that is installed on a system with Mac OS X 10.1.x.
IV. You already updated MATLAB installed on a system with Mac OS X 10.1.x, as in scenario III above, and have subsequently updated to Mac OS X 10.2.x.
V. You have added a toolbox to your license, and installed it into an existing MATLAB installation.
Depending on which scenario you choose, follow the directions below.
1. The first step is to download the MathWorks Jaguar Updater disk image linked at the bottom of this solution (MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater.dmg)
2. Double-click the file to start the 'Disk Copy' utility, which will mount the disk image as a virtual disk named MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater. You will use this MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater virtual disk in the following installations.
Locate your scenario (below) and follow the steps listed for that scenario.
*************
Scenario I
*************
You want to install MATLAB 6.5 (13) on a Mac OS X 10.2.x system that doesn't currently have MATLAB installed.
1. Insert the MATLAB Release 13 install CD titled "CD 1 of 3" into your CD drive.
2. Wait a few moments for Mac OS X to mount the CD. When the MathWorks_R13_1 volume appears on your desktop, you can proceed.
3. Double-click on the 'Install for Mac OS X' icon in the MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater virtual disk.
4. Follow the instructions presented by the installer.
5. After the installer finishes, drag the MathWorks_R13_1 volume to the trash to eject the CD, and repeat steps 1 through 4 with CD 2 of 3 and CD 3 of 3.
*************
Scenario II
*************
You want to update an installation of MATLAB that was installed on a system with Mac OS X 10.1.x, but has subsequently been updated to Mac OS X 10.2.x.
1. Double-click on the 'XFree86_4.2.0.1-10.2' icon in the MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater virtual disk.
2. Follow the instructions presented by the XFree86 updater. Accept any default values presented.
3. Double-click on the 'MATLABR13_Jaguar_patch' icon in the MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater virtual disk.
4. Follow the instructions presented by the MATLAB updater. When asked to choose the folder where MATLAB is installed click 'Next' unless MATLAB is not installed in the default location (/Applications/MATLAB6p5). If MATLAB is not installed in the default location, click the 'Choose...' button and navigate to the folder where you installed MATLAB.
5. If you have toolbox path caching enabled, you will need to execute the following command at the MATLAB command prompt so that the newly installed files are recognized:
rehash toolboxcache
*************
Scenario III
*************
You want to update an installation of MATLAB that is installed on a system with Mac OS X 10.1.x.
1. Double-click on the 'MATLABR13_Jaguar_patch' icon in the MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater virtual disk.
2. Follow the instructions presented by the MATLAB updater. When asked to choose the folder where MATLAB is installed click 'Next' unless MATLAB is not installed in the default location (/Applications/MATLAB6p5). If this is the case, then click the 'Choose...' button and navigate to the folder where you installed MATLAB.
3. If you have toolbox path caching enabled, you will need to execute the following command at the MATLAB command prompt so that the newly installed files are recognized:
rehash toolboxcache
*************
Scenario IV
*************
You already updated MATLAB installed on a system with Mac OS X 10.1.x, as in scenario III above, and have subsequently updated to Mac OS X 10.2.x.
1. Double-click on the 'XFree86_4.2.0.1-10.2' icon in the MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater virtual disk.
2. Follow the instructions presented by the XFree86 updater. Accept any default values presented.
*************
Scenario V
*************
You are adding a Toolbox to an existing, already updated, installation of MATLAB.
1. Save your work and exit MATLAB.
2. Install the Toolbox.
3. Double-click on the 'XFree86_4.2.0.1-10.2' icon in the MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater virtual disk.
4. Follow the instructions presented by the XFree86 updater. Accept any default values presented.
5. Double-click on the 'MATLABR13_Jaguar_patch' icon in the MathWorks_Jaguar_Updater virtual disk.
7. If you have toolbox path caching enabled, you will need to execute the following command at the MATLAB command prompt so that the newly installed files are recognized:
rehash toolboxcache
