Is ksdensity based on Kolmogorov Smirnov test?

I am using ksdensity to estimate probability distribution of my data. I'm wondering what does 'ks' stand for in ksdensity? Can someone please let me know?'

I'm sure it stands for Kernel Smoothing density estimation.
I prefer Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) though.
