what are the functions of two-sided spectrum and one-sided spectrum in FFT

what does the two-sided spectrum P2 and the one-sided spectrum P1 actually do?

because when I only apply fft( ) in my data i get this indiscernible graph versus when I apply the P2 and P1 in my data
