Can't select options on pull down menus in IDE. R2011b Ubuntu Xming Windows 7

We have Matlab R2011b installed on an machine running UBUNTU 10.04.3 LTS. We have two remote machines accessing Matlab via XMing. One machine is an laptop running XP, the other is a laptop running Windows 7. Matlab on the XP box works perfectly. But on the Windows seven box, the IDE starts, but when you go to use the pull down menus, the menu drops down but the selection of sub-options works sometimes and then sometimes you can't select anything. We have tried a variety of possible fixes but nothing seems to work. Any thoughts???

WE FOUND A WORK_AROUND....
It was something we didn't even expcet. Apparently Matlab menus only like it if on a two monitor system it is run on the main display. Once you move it off the main display onto the secondary display everything in the IDE seems to work EXCEPT the menus. I guess this is both good and bad, now it works, but on the primary monitor only. {sad face here}.

Try narrowing the differences between 7 and XP. I'd try the following:
* Turn off Aero interface
* Disable UAC
If that doesn't work, you can try configuring XMing to run in XP compatibility mode, or perhaps try a different X emulator, for example, the one from Cygwin.

Turning off Aero did not work and UAC was already disabled. I will try the XP compatibility mode first and then try another emulator. I will post results.

Neither of these worked. We installed the Mocha X server, again on XP flawless, on Windows 7, no change. We also tried the XP compatibility mode. We are now asking another person who has a Windows 7 machine to try so we can see if this is repeatable on another machine.
