- it might last for years and years and years, if the college never disables your email address, and if the college continues to renew the license with Mathworks. You are only supposed to have access while you are a student, but some colleges are very lax in disabling access
- it might last until your college gets around to disabling your email address once you graduate, provided the college continues to renew the license with Mathworks
- it might last as long as you are enrolled in the same faculty (for example some colleges might enable the license for anyone enrolled in science or engineering or business, but disable the license for anyone enrolled in Arts or Languages)
- it might last until the end of the term, if your college enables and disables licenses according to the need for MATLAB in the particular courses you are taking
- sometimes colleges only bother to enable or disable access some time in August
- access might be cut short if your college decides not to renew the license with Mathworks. Common dates for license renewal are some time in August -- or December 31... or January 10th.

When you use MATLAB using your college email address, you are using a copy of MATLAB that has been licensed to the college through a College-Wide License (or, historically, a Total Academic Headcount license.)
How long your access last depends on how your college has configured the license
