Update Courses in MATLAB Course Designer

This topic shows how to make changes to published and assigned courses in MATLAB® Course Designer™. For example, you can fix typos, change videos or reading materials, or add modules.

To edit a published course, follow these steps.

  1. Navigate to your course and click Set to Draft.

  2. Make the changes.

  3. Click Publish.

Changes to Assigned Courses

If you have already assigned your course in a learning management system (LMS), then the next steps depend on whether your update is minor or major.

Minor Update

A minor update is any change that does not affect the course structure. For example, you can:

  • Fix typos, including in titles.

  • Change videos or reading materials.

  • Fix a bug inside a MATLAB exercise.

When you click Publish, the software automatically updates the assigned course in your LMS.

Major Update

A major update is any change that affects the course structure. For example, you can:

  • Add or remove a course module.

  • Reorder course modules.

If you publish a major update, then you must also update the course to the latest version inside MATLAB and Simulink® Online™ Courses. To do so, navigate to your course inside your LMS and click Edit Version.

Major updates can affect learner progress. If you publish a major update to a course that a learner has already completed, then their progress remains at 100%. If they have not yet completed the course, then their progress can increase if you remove a module or decrease if you add a module.
