Zodiac Aero Electric Uses Model-Based Design for Power System Design

“Generating C code from our battery management system model enabled a significant gain in agility and reduction in development time.”

Key Outcomes

  • Improved the traceability between requirements, design, code, and test
  • Reduced development time of complex systems

Zodiac Aero Electric, now owned by Safran, is using Model-Based Design with MATLAB® and Simulink® to develop on-board electrical power distribution systems. Their activities cover development, integration, and certification of electrical systems including power generation and primary and secondary distribution.

Using several MATLAB and Simulink products, Zodiac Aero Electric is speeding up development and improving the accuracy of their models. These models ensure traceability with the requirements at each step of the development. Desktop simulation speeds up verification, facilitates design iterations, and eases identification of regressions. Test cases elaborated at the design stage can be reused for hardware-in-the-loop testing. Finally, new features can be tested quickly thanks to automatic C code generation and rapid prototyping.
