Ground and Aerial Vehicle Modelling and Simulation Intern

Job Summary

Do you want to join our engineering team to develop Simulink-based models and tools used to design and simulate the next generation of cars and aircraft?

Simulation has become an essential design technique for engineers developing complex systems. At early stages of the design process, simulation helps engineers understand concept feasibility and design tradeoffs. As a project progresses, simulations help validate the correctness of implementation. When a system enters service, the role of simulation transitions yet again to provide insights into real-world performance and system reliability. Realising the value of simulation requires correct models containing the appropriate level of fidelity.

By joining the MathWorks engineering team, you will contribute to enhancing two key models used in the aerospace and automotive industries: a drone airframe model with associated flight controls, and a full-car vehicle dynamics model.

  • Extend the physics and improve the execution performance of the vehicle models.
  • Develop tests to demonstrate model correctness.
  • Extend the methods for running the models and reporting performance results.
  • Visit MathWorks customers to understand requirements and present results.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's level degree in a technical discipline.

Additional Qualifications

  • Good analytical, problem-solving and programming skills
  • Knowledge of automotive and/or aerospace engineering challenges
  • Experience with MATLAB and exposure to Simulink
