Digital Transformation Seminar Day 1 - From Data Insights to Data Driven Models

Overview

On Day 1 of the Digital Transformation Seminar, we begin with a brief keynote discussing how data, models, and engineers must work together to form a successful digital transformation strategy. Following this, we will deliver the first 2 of 4 technical presentations to demonstrate how MathWorks software can help you achieve your digital transformation goals.  First, we will show how you can quickly and efficiently make sense of your data with easy to use import, pre-processing and visualisation tools. Once your data is in order, we will show how you can build data driven models to deliver value to your business, with tools that have been developed to enable domain experts to be data scientists.

Data Insights for Digital Transformation

MATLAB provides a single environment to help you quickly and efficiently make sense of your data sets.  Learn about tools to help you import, preprocess and visualise data, as well as tools to develop Apps to encapsulate these processes into a user-friendly interface.

Creating and Using Models: A Data-Driven Approach

Pre-processed data and insights from domain experts can be used to build models that help automate processes and predict the future based on past events. Learn how MATLAB makes it easy for domain experts to build different types of useful models based on application and data available.

About the Presenter

Emmanuel Blanchard is a senior application engineer at MathWorks who works with customers on projects related to data analytics and machine learning. He joined in 2014 as a training engineer teaching several MATLAB, Simulink and Simscape courses, including specialised topics such as machine learning, statistics, optimisation, image processing and parallel computing. Prior to joining MathWorks, he was a Lecturer in Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Wollongong. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. He also worked as a Systems / Controls Engineer at Cummins Engine Company and as a research assistant in several research institutions in California and Virginia.

Syed Ahmad Hussain is a Training Engineer at MathWorks, specialising in the field of data processing and technical computing. He has a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Adelaide.
