Image Acquisition Toolbox

Supported Hardware – Operating System - Windows

Image Acquisition Toolbox supports video capture devices on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems through several industry standards including Video for Windows, GigE Vision, Camera Link, and DCAM IEEE 1394.

Video for Windows

The toolbox supports hardware, such as USB webcams, from manufacturers that provide DirectShow compliant WDM (Windows Driver Model) drivers. Many manufacturers provide such drivers for scientific and industrial imaging devices in addition to webcams.

The toolbox also supports webcams that use the UVC standard interface. These devices can be used without the installation of additional drivers in Windows XP SP2 and later versions of Windows.

Windows video devices are supported on the following operating systems:

  • Windows (32-bit)
  • Windows (64-bit)

To test your video capture device for compatibility with the Windows video adaptor in Image Acquisition Toolbox, download and run the detectDevices utility.

Additional Industry Standards

The following standards are also supported on 32-bit and/or 64-bit Windows. Please see detailed information on the respective pages for each standard.
