Install Products Noninteractively
R2026bTo install products with the same configuration on multiple computers, run the MathWorks installer in noninteractive mode from the command line. In a noninteractive installation, or silent installation, you configure installation properties using an input file, which you specify at the command line when you start the installer.
Use this workflow to install products only. To install support packages noninteractively, see Install Support Packages Noninteractively.
Get File Installation Key
To determine which products your license allows you to install, the installer input file requires a File Installation Key. For information on getting a File Installation Key, see Get License File and File Installation Key.
Download Installer and Products
You need to download both the installer application and the product installation files. You can either download specific products, using the download-only interactive installer, or download an all-products ISO or DMG image. For download instructions, see Download Products Without Installing.
Configure Installation Using Input File
Configure your installation by using the installer_input.txt file.
This file is in the downloaded folder that contains the installer and the product
files.
Open the top-level folder that contains the installer and product files you downloaded. Make a copy of the
installer_input.txtfile that is located in this folder. Here are sample copy commands for each operating system. In these commands, replaceC:\path\to\downloador/path/to/downloadwith the full path to the download folder.Windows®:
copy "C:\path\to\download\installer_input.txt" "C:\temp\installer_input.txt"Linux® or macOS:
cp /path/to/download/installer_input.txt $HOME/installer_input.txt$HOMEis an environment variable that contains the path to your home folder (for example,/home/myUsername).
Open the copied input file in a text editor.
In the input file, read through the descriptive comments (lines starting with
##) to see all available installer properties. Then, uncomment the properties you want to set (lines starting with#) and update the property values. Here are sample common properties to set:destinationFolderSpecify the full path to the folder where you want to install products. Specifying a relative path can cause the installer to read the input file incorrectly. Here are sample destination folders for each operating system.
Windows:
destinationFolder=C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2026bLinux:
destinationFolder=/opt/MATLAB/R2026bmacOS:
destinationFolder=/Applications
fileInstallationKeySpecify the File Installation Key that you obtained by following the instructions in Get License File and File Installation Key. For example:
fileInstallationKey=01234-56789-01234-56789agreeToLicenseSpecify this value as
yesto accept the license agreement to install MathWorks® products.agreeToLicense=yesProducts
By default, the installer installs all products for which you are licensed, as determined by the File Installation Key you specified. To instead install a specific product or a subset of products, uncomment the lines for the products you want to install. For example, this simplified product list installs MATLAB® and Simulink® but not Signal Processing Toolbox™.
product.MATLAB #product.Signal_Processing_Toolbox product.Simulink
Save your changes to the file.
Run Installer Using Input File
Navigate to the folder that contains the installer and products.
In a command window or terminal, start the installer. To use the input file, specify the
-inputFileoption with the full path to theinstaller_input.txtfile.On Windows, run the
setup.exeapplication with the-inputFileoption. For example:setup.exe -inputFile "C:\temp\installer_input.txt"On Linux or macOS, run the
installscript with the-inputFileoption. For example:./install -inputFile $HOME/installer_input.txt
View Installation and Activation Log Files
While installing and activating MathWorks products, the product installer creates a log file. Use this file to get information about these processes.
The installation log file is named mathworks_<username>.log and
the activation log file is named aws_<username>.log. In both
cases, <username> is the username of the person running the
installer.
To locate your log files, see Locate Installation Log Files.
